We all know how one week off work can make you feel totally out of the loop when you return, well imagine taking 6 weeks off? Essentially that’s what the Summer Holidays are, 6 weeks off work for our kids.
After the summer holidays it’s got to be hard to get back into the swing of learning but obviously, we want our kids to have a good rest over the summer break, so how do we meet the gap?
I’ve always found that children respond best to education when it’s fun. When doing my step daughters math homework I will get out paper cups so we can stack them and count them, it adds another dimension to learning and breaks it up from being just writing on paper. Let’s face it, if we stare at something for too long it stops going in.
From experience with my stepchildren, the more fun and interactive education is, the more they respond to it and actively WANT to take part in it. We have recently been looking at Education Quizzes, it’s designed for all children to help them be successful with their learning. The quizzes are fun and enjoyable quizzes written by teachers covering KS1, KS2, 11-Plus, KS3 and GCSE – I would have loved this type of thing when I was doing my GCSE’s. The subscription costs £9.95 and can be cancelled at any time.
We are currently working on the Key Stage 1 programmes, which covers off all school subjects. We have also been working through the Nature Section of their daily blog for my stepson who loves the great outdoors!
